Who can Sign up for Classes?

For Adult Classes: We are proud to welcome and admit students at least 16 years of age and of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin to all classes. You do not have to be a resident of Northside School District to take any of our classes.
We do not allow children to accompany adults to class, nor do we provide child care. 
Students under 16 will be permitted to register only with prior consent of the Instructor and Coordinator and may be required to have an adult sign up with them.  

For Children’s Classes:   We ask that you adhere to the age requirements listed in the course description. Unless designated a "Mom & Me" class, adults are asked to leave the classroom upon class start. This is to minimize distractions and to allow the focus to be on the instructor, as well as for space considerations. All of our instructors are background-checked and are made aware of our emergency procedures


When can I sign up?
For most classes, registrations are taken until the first day of the class if space is still available in a class. However, we encourage you to sign up early so that a class may not be cancelled due to lack of registration.
For some classes where supplies or ingredients need to be purchased or prepared ahead of class, registration may close 24 hours prior to class start.

How do I register?

  Simply browse the courses link and add your choices to your shopping cart.

If you get into our voicemail system, here’s a brief roadmap:

  • To register for a course, press 2
  • Leave your name, address, day and evening phone numbers, and at the first available opportunity we will call you back and process your registration.
  • Tell us the courses for which you would like to register (title and number).

When is your registration office open?
The Community Education office is open Monday-Friday, 8am-5:00pm. 


How do I get to your office?
Our office is located at 6632 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78238.  (Outside Loop 410 at the corner of Grissom and Bandera Rds.)


How do I register if I do not have an email address?
If you do not have an email address, please call our office at (210) 397-8100 and one of our Information Specialists will register you.


What if the class that I sign up for is full?
If the class that you are registering for is full, you can ask to be put on a "Waiting List."  If an opening comes up or a new class has been formed, you will then be notified and given an opportunity to register again for the class. Your  name on the waiting lists is maintained for the semester in which you are placed. At the conclusion of the semester, waiting lists become null and void.


What is the Refund Policy?

Please read the following information carefully before completing the Community Education  Form.
Transfers/Credits/Refunds:   
If Community Education cancels a class you will receive a full refund, or you may request a credit which will be applied toward the cost of any future course.  The credit voucher is valid for up to ONE  calendar year from the date of issuance. Once a class has begun, there are no refunds.  If you must cancel a class, or transfer to another, you must call us 2 (two) working days before the class begins.  $6 processing fee  will be charged for any transfers or cancellations initiated by the student.  

 

Will I Receive A Reminder Notification About My Upcoming Classes?
We endeavor to send reminders by email 24-48 hours before class start.  It is your responsibility to remember the date and time of your class. There are no refunds for 'no-shows.'

Specifically, where do classes meet?
Classes meet in various campuses and private businesses throughout Northside School District.  Specific directions are sent with your course confirmation.  Community Education is cautious to place classes in well-lit and safe environments. 

Are classes handicapped-accessible?
Community Education is committed to making its classes accessible to members of the disabled community.  Please call our registration office at (210) 397-8100 to arrange accessibility.

What happens in case of inclement weather?
Please view the information on the NISD website: www.nisd.net.  Community Education will not have classes if the schools are closed.  We will reschedule such classes and will contact you with the new information.

Are adult students allowed to smoke on Northside Campuses?
Northside is a smoke-free organization.  Use of tobacco and smoking are prohibited on all Northside ISD property including outside as well as inside or buildings.

Can Community Education provide customized or specialized training for businesses?
We can help you satisfy your training needs at your location or ours by designing special packages in the areas of:  Information Technology, Foreign Language, Business/Management, Leadership/Supervisory Programs and Specialized curriculums.
